Rainstorm and Typhoon Warning Signals raised BEFORE the start of a session

Amber Rainstorm / Typhoon No. 1

Kindergarten sessions will continue as normal unless the Education Bureau (EDB) announces that kindergartens are to close.

Red or Black Rainstorm

The kindergarten will close for the session (morning or afternoon).

If the warning is still in place at 10.30am, the afternoon session will be cancelled and the kindergarten will remain closed all day.

If the warning is lowered before 10.30am, the afternoon session will proceed as usual and the school buses will operate (unless EDB announces that kindergartens are to close).

Typhoon No. 3 or No. 8

The kindergarten will close for the session (morning or afternoon).

If a T3 or T8 signal is still in place at 10.30am, the afternoon session will be cancelled and the kindergarten will remain closed all day.

If the signal is lowered to T1 before 10.30am, the afternoon session will proceed as usual and the school buses will operate (unless EDB announces that kindergartens are to close).

Note: A deadline of 10.30 is set to allow sufficient time for the buses to do the afternoon run. This timing may differ from guidance given by EDB which usually sets a deadline of 11.00am.

Rainstorm and Typhoon Warning Signals raised when the session is in operation

Typhoon No. 3 or No. 8

Children may stay at kindergarten and travel home on the school bus at the scheduled time.

Parents may arrange to collect their child before the end of the session and should inform the kindergarten of their intention.

Red or Black Rainstorm

Children may be released to a parent (or designated responsible adult, with parental permission), however, kindergartens will not request parents to come to collect their children in dangerous conditions.

School buses cannot run in Red or Black rain. If school buses can be arranged when the relevant signals are lowered, they should run. If not, the kindergarten will advise parents (or designated responsible adult) to collect their children from kindergarten.

Kindergartens that lie in areas prone to flooding or landslips will monitor conditions and take the necessary precautionary measures.

In the event of a typhoon, information will be posted on the Kindergarten website and the ESF website http://www.esf.edu.hk
